Speech at the Weinstein Learning Center is dedicated to promoting effective communication and articulate expression across academic disciplines. We support University of Richmond students, faculty, and staff in preparing for academic presentations and other formal speaking engagements. While working with our trained speech consultants, presenters receive individualized recommendations and have access to recording and playback tools to refine their delivery. Appointments can be scheduled in advance, and drop-in consultations are available during designated hours.

Consultants

Speech consultants are hired based on a rigorous application and interview process and participate in ongoing training throughout their time as a consultant. We aim to offer assistance of the highest quality, provided by well-trained student colleagues who may also be classmates and acquaintances. Training includes approaches to teaching communication, studies of effective peer consulting, and practical experience shadowing current staff members as they work. Our consultants come from a wide range of majors and backgrounds, allowing clients to receive relevant and informed support for their presentations.
