  • Where are you located?
While our new location that will co-locate all of our student support services is being built in Boatwright Memorial Library, we are operating a WLC welcome desk in BML 212 and have services taking place in a few locations on campus, including Boatwright Library, Weinstein Hall, Carole Weinstein International Center, and satellite drop-in tutoring locations in Robins School of Business, Gottwald Center for the Sciences, and the Humanities Building. For more information, please see our Hours & Locations page.

  • How can I make an appointment?
University of Richmond students currently enrolled in credit-bearing courses can log in to the WLC Student Portal to book appointments. Appointments can be booked 24 hours to 30 days in advance. Most services also offer drop-in hours; see our service pages for additional information.
  • What are drop-ins?

Drop-in hours allow students to meet with our consultants and peer tutors without needing to book an appointment in advance. Each service’s drop-ins have unique times and locations, so be sure to check the schedule before you arrive. Additional details can be found on our service pages and the WLC Student Portal.

  • What are embedded tutors and consultants?

Some of our services (e.g., Content Tutoring, Speech, Writing) allow faculty or instructional staff members to request a consultant or content tutor to be assigned to their course section(s). The kinds of support offered varies depending on the service type and the faculty/staff member’s request. Support offered can include 1:1 appointments with students, drop-ins, class attendance, and/or class visits to Weinstein Learning Center locations. To see which courses are supported, visit our Search by Course tool. Your instructor will provide additional information on how your class will work with the embedded tutor/consultant this semester.

Faculty or staff members interested in requesting embedded support can find more information here.

  • How can I collaborate with the WLC?
We welcome collaboration across campus departments! If you would like to request embedded support for your course, please find more information here. For workshop, class visit, or other event requests, please contact us at wlc@richmond.edu.
  • How do I become a consultant or tutor?

All Weinstein Learning Center student employees participate in an application and interview process. Open positions are posted in Workday. Once selected, candidates will be prompted to complete pre-employment paperwork if they have not yet held a job on campus, and then they will begin position-specific training. WLC student employees engage in ongoing training throughout their time in their roles.

Some positions require a faculty referral or letter of recommendation. You will be notified of this requirement during the application process.
