Scheduling your Appointment

  • Reserve your appointment in the WLC Student Portal at least 24 hours ahead of the desired practice session. In-person and Zoom appointments are available.
  • If your course has an embedded speech fellow, you will be connected to that consultant's schedule during the booking process.
  • It is recommended that you schedule your appointment at least a week before your class presentation. This will give you time to revise, make needed changes and to practice several days in advance.
  • If canceling an appointment becomes necessary, please try do so in the WLC Student Portal 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time.
  • Meet your consultant(s) in the Speech foyer on the fourth floor of Weinstein Hall. Accessible entrances can be found on the third floor via the ramp from the Quad and the ground floor from the parking lot.

Preparing for your Appointment

If you have been assigned a visit in advance of an oral assignment:

  • Reserve your practice time online. You will receive an email confirming your appointment time and date shortly after reserving a time slot. 
  • Review the instructions given by your professor carefully. Seek clarification for any guideline about which you are uncertain. Have a copy of the assignment instructions available during your appointment.
  • Bring notes, outlines, any research materials, and multimedia included in your presentation. Plan to rehearse with what you will be using in the actual presentation.
  • Recorded practice is typically a part of the appointment process. Unless you are attending for a brainstorming session, you can expect complete a recorded practice that can be replayed and discussed with the consultant(s).
  • You may opt to send a notice of your visit to your instructor. If your class has an assigned speech consultant, your instructor will receive a weekly digest of their course section's appointment attendance.
